Earthquake – Club is Open for Business
What an eventful week it has been, I hope you are all safe and have worked on updating all of your emergency plans and survival gear! The club was closed briefly while engineers checked it out – and has now been cleared and is open again as of last Thursday. Queens Cup Regatta This weekend is the Queens Cup Regatta - Sat 26th November, held in Wellington (either Lambton or North End depending on conditions). Make sure you are all available and check in with your coach as to times and expectations. OCRC Summer Camp The OCRC Summer Camp will be commencing at mid-day on Sunday 8 January and finishing at 2pm on Friday 13th January. Note this is one day shorter than previously advised. However, the Porirua Goodwill regatta is on the 14th so I expect coaches will want us to participate in that. Best to assume that your rower is likely to be expected to be around for the regatta as well as the camp. The info sheet and survey monkey for updated health info for Summer Camp will come out shortly. This will need to be completed before the end of the school term. The final fee for summer camp is yet to be set and this will be advised through the Information Sheet which will be circulated within the next two weeks. Payment will be due no later than 30 December 2016. Please be aware that because Summer Camp happens in the middle of wider holidays and people have their own plans – OCRC will not be organising travel to or from camp. Please get in touch directly with your squad managers if you wish to car pool or need to organise rides. Upcoming Events - KR1, Summer Camp, KR2 Consent forms and information sheets will be issued this week for KR1, followed shortly afterwards for Summer Camp and forms for KR3 will be issued early January, so look out for this information and please respond as soon as you possible. Uniforms Uniform items have been issued to your squad manager - except the hoodies. There was a slight mistake with the hoodies and they are being re-made. We will have new ones issued shortly. Unitards are in production and will be issued as soon as they arrive. Cloudy Bay have offered to replace the ribbing on unitards purchased last year if you think you ribbing has become saggy. If you want to take up on that offer, you need to get your unitard to Stephanie by tonight Quiz Thanks to everyone for getting behind the Quiz night and especially to Steve for putting the time in to organise this (I am told his life is now empty without it!). It was especially great to have so many of our rowers there to help on the night and you did us proud. Raewyn is counting the takings, but it looks to have been a successful fundraiser and will see some extra funds in rower accounts and club coffers. Nga mihi Olwyn Crutchey – OCRC President

They worked tirelessly to establish lots of the formal rules and structures for the club and have left us in a good position to move forward. NORTON CUP Fantastic to see our rowers out on the harbour in the Norton Cup yesterday. The local regattas are a good opportunity to come and support our rowers and it was nice to see many of you there. COUNTDOWN TO THE QUIZ NIGHT 20 November – 1841 Bar, Johnsonville 6:30 pm This will be a great night and a great way to bring our rowing community together. By now most people have either sold their ticket allocation or have confirmed they are not participating. That means we have approx. 40 spare tickets to sell so if you want additional tickets contact Steve Watters– first come basis. For those of you who have sold tickets please deposit the money into the rowing account now or collect on the night and deposit it with your rower’s name in the reference. Raffle Donations: We are running two raffles on the night – squad managers are now asking for donated (non-perishable) goods for these – one or two items each should make a good basket so please respond to this. All those contributing will get a share of funds raised on the evening – so if you were unable to sell tickets this is a great way to be involved.. ROWATHON Great effort from everyone at the Rowathon! Remember to deposit your Rowathon money into the Rowing account. 50% goes to WRC fund raising and 50% to your own rower account. Thank you if you have done this already. UNIFORMS Uniforms (polo, hat, hoodie) will be issued to your squad manager for distribution. They should be arriving within the next week. Make sure you join the rowing facebook group – it is for rowers and parents: Onslow College Rowing Regatta messages and photos are often posted here. SEASON GUIDE Please find attached an updated version of the Season Guide recently issued. There is a correction to Tina's email address. Please use her school email address rather than the one provided in the first version. GRANTS As Annie mentioned last day sheet we have had great success with Grant applications this year. A brand new double is on order thanks to the $14000 grant secured from the Hutt Mana Trust and a further $3000 from NZCT which will be used to purchase new oars. Thanks to all of those involved in this. Olwyn Crutchley – OCRC President |
