LTR Incident Review Update The Executive Committee, together with several people from the LTR camp met with Principal Sheena Millar and Deputy Principal Penny Kinsella to review the received submissions from the request of the LTR camp incident. While the school is happy overall with how the rowing programme is run, it was recognised that additional documentation is required to provide the necessary audit trails for health and safety and to ensure identified enhancements for on water health and safety are implemented. Hence, as a result of the review of the incident at the LTR camp in Wanganui, OCRC is identifying a number of actions, procedures and reporting systems aimed at mitigating the risk of this type of event occurring in the future. A formal final report will not be delivered by the school prior to Christmas as originally indicated. But be assured that there has been a lot of work behind the scenes by a number of people to implement the enhanced health and safety measures. Please do not share drink bottles. If you need a small bottle to take in the boat for a race, then use for e.g. 250ml bottle. Sharing a drink bottle with someone who is sick is the fastest way to ensure your boat is out of the race! Nutrition The effect of diet on performance is significant. See the School Fair Play policy and other community expectations on the website: https://ocrowingclub.weebly.com/resources.html Information for Parents and Spectators at Karapiro Regattas Karapiro Rowing has strict requirements for the boat park and photography: Boat park access is restricted to officials, coaches and athletes. Parents please do not see your rower in the boat park. A race debrief occurs after the race. They will return to the Onslow marquee tent where they can then meet up with parents and supporters. Photography by parents, supporters and general public is strictly prohibited from the Boat Park and the Starting Pontoons. Authorized, accredited Media only will be permitted to take photos inside the boat park and on the start pontoons. KRI have restricted the use of long lens cameras in or near the boat park for security reasons. Summer Event Charges Summer events for KR1, Summer Camp, KR2 and Rua charges and the OCRC fee will be on your school account. Please pay KR1 and Summer Camp asap if not already done and also the OCRC fee. Thank you! The Information Sheet for Summer Camp will be issued before Christmas. Rua Training Dates There are 5 planned Rua dates after summer camp. Your coach will confirm plans for your individual squads, but save the dates if you can:
Rowing Celebration Photos Rowing Celebration will be taking a lot of photos of the Onslow crews at KR1. The link to the photos will be provided after the regatta. All images are free for use and download but please be mindful of the image use requirements: The images can be used by your organisation for its own purpose / promotion. All images provided can be used for Editorial use (Newspapers/Magazines) and on all your social media channels. This is a good way of a keeping up with reminder notices for regatta trips and events, as well as photos and other things happening with the club.
