OCRC received a thank you note from Warren and Margaret Thomas. Warren is the Karapiro Rowing Chariman and to receive this message from Karapiro Rowing is a credit to all of the Onslow College rowers for taking the initiative and time to get the Maadi card signed by all the attending schools. It was obviously very much appreciated. Well done!

Season Feedback Survey
The Executive Committee would like your feedback on the season and your ideas to improve next season. We have put together a short survey on Survey Monkey The survey is anonymous and we are keen to hear from both parents and rowers/coxswains. If you would prefer to just mail me your feedback that is fine too – the questions are:
Book Fair Volunteer team Deidre is looking for some keen volunteers to assist with organising this year’s Book Fair. Our book fair is booked at the Wharewaka for the weekend of Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of September. Our aim this year is to raise $10,000. Could you all put that date in your social calendars please? We need a team of people to help quietly tap this fundraiser along over the next few months. Onslow Rowing has been doing this book fair for a long time now and we have a tried and true recipe…so it’s not a difficult exercise and doesn’t take up a lot of time. Please drop Deidre an email if you’d like to help with this fundraiser Rower Recruitment and LTR: We are starting the LTR programme information evening for prospective rowers and families on Sunday 6th Aug 4pm Student Centre and then into training sessions from 11 August. Our existing rowers will be asked to get involved to support the programme via their coaches nearer the time If you know any current year 9 or 10 students who are interested in joining rowing in the coming season encourage them to come along to this or contact Tina or Steph for more information or direct them to the website: http://ocrowingclub.weebly.com/learn-to-row-2017.html Wellington Rowing Club AGM The WRC AGM will be at the clubroom on 30 July at 2:30pm, all welcome Our AGM will be in October We have not yet set a date for this – but will do so at the next committee meeting. If you would like to stand for any committee role please get in touch with any of the current committee or myself. We know of one member who will be standing down in October at this stage. Central RPC Development Camps: These camps are offered in the off-season for rower development if anyone is interested. A few of our senior rowers have enrolled and they are definitely an optional extra. http://www.sporty.co.nz/centralrpc/2017-Development-Camps/2017-Development-Camps Maintenance and Cleaning We still need to get the Big tent out for cleaning, waiting for a suitably sunny day– so expect an email seeking crews to assist A special Thank-you We received a thank-you card from the organisers of the Karapiro Regattas which read: “To the Rowers Onslow College. You Guys Rock. Not many student athletes take the time to reflect on what goes on around them or who is considering their sports experience. Your ability to look beyond yourself stands you apart and will put you head and shoulders above your peers. Kind regards Warren and Margaret” Our rowers stood out for thanking the officials at Maadi and other regattas – a great accolade for our club! |
