Executive Committee
The OCRC Exec met on Sunday 31 July. The following are key points for you to note from that meeting: Winter training A reminder that the days for this have changed – winter training will now be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the City Fitness Gym in Johnsonville from 3:30 to 5pm. Any additional squad-based training will be notified directly to squads by their coaches. Sports photos These are being done on Tuesday this week – all rowers please to wear their unitards, no socks or caps. All coaches please wear your black OCRC polo shirts. There will be individual and squad-based photos. Recruitment Tina and some of our experienced rowers are speaking to the Year 9 and 10 assemblies this week. Tina says please wear your OCRC Hoodies this week, and be available for anyone who may have some questions for you. Remember we need lots of new recruits! Thursday rowing recruitment bake sale: The girls have organised a recruitment bake sale for Thursday 4th Aug. They are doing erg racing and will give free baking to students who get a certain split. If you can bring a plate of baking to contribute or come along and help out, that would be helpful. Thanks. Learn to Row programme Training The Learn to Row programme commences on Friday 12 August. Trainings at the Club will be at 6:30am on Tuesday morning, 4 to 6pm on Friday and 3 to 5pm on Sunday. Coaches will advise squads of their expectations re attendance. Learn to row meeting A meeting for all prospective Learn to Row novices and their parents/ caregivers will be held on Sunday afternoon 7 August at 4pm in the Student centre at Onslow College. LTR Camp Coordinator If you are keen to be the LTR Camp Coordinator or want to find out about the role, then contact Stephanie Clark for more details. Camp starts Friday 23rd Sept through to Tuesday 27th Sept. Congratulations to Jared Today Jared was voted in as Deputy Club Captain at the WRC Annual General Meeting. This is a great for the WRC to recognise Jared’s contribution to the rowing scene in Wellington, and it will provide us with a valuable link to the wider club as well. OCRC Book Fair This is an important annual fundraiser for us. Details setting out everything you need to know about this event are set out at the end of the Day Sheet. Annual General Meeting The OCRC Annual General Meeting will be held in October. Our current Committee has been elected to hold office for one year, although all are eligible to return if they wish to do so and have the support of the community at the AGM. We will send out formal notice of the AGM and call for nominations closer to the time – but please start giving some thought to whether you would like to serve on the Committee, or whether there are others you would like to nominate. WRC Introduction to Schools – 10am 16 October The WRC will be holding a BBQ to give rowers and parents from school member clubs an opportunity to meet one another and forge some connections across the wider WRC community. This will be held the day after the Porirua Goodwill Cup, at the WRC Function rooms. Next Executive Committee meeting The Committee will meet again at 2pm on 28 August. Please let me know if there is anything you would like the Committee to discuss

Executive Committee
The OCRC Exec has been meeting every 4 weeks (ish) over the winter. There are a few things we wanted to let you know about: Winter Training The plan for winter training is for all squads to train at the City Fitness Gym in Johnsonville as they did last winter. This costs about $5 per session. Session times are Mon, Wed, Friday 3.30-5pm starting next term. Some squads may do extra training depending on their coach. Coaches will advise squads individually as required. Manawatu Grunt The Manawatu Grunt is a distance race on the Manawatu River on 24 July. Entries will be through the WRC. Coaches have been asked to canvas their rowers for interest and get back to either Joe O’Neill or Jared. If your rower is keen to enter, make sure they talk to their coach. Learn to Row programme Training The Learn to Row programme this year will run from 12 August to the end of the Learn to Row Camp which finishes on Tuesday 27 September. Like last year, trainings at the Club will be at 6:30am on Tuesday morning and Friday and Sunday afternoons – precise times to be finalised (either 4 – 6pm or 3 – 5pm). The Learn to Row programme is a great opportunity for experienced rowers to share their wisdom and their enthusiasm with our potential new recruits – so all experienced rowers are encouraged to attend and help out. Coaches will advise squads of their expectations re attendance. Learn to row meeting We will be holding a meeting for all prospective Learn to Row novices and their parents/ caregivers at Onslow College Student Centre on Sunday afternoon 7 August 4pm. Experienced rowers are encouraged to come along and share their experiences with potential novices. Remember we need lots of new recruits this season! Learn to row camp A reminder that this runs from Friday afternoon 23 September to Tuesday afternoon 27 September. We will be based at the Whanganui Top Ten as usual. Please tell us what you think! The Committee is reviewing the season past, and thinking about what we need to cover off in planning for the season ahead. We’d really appreciate your thoughts and feedback. Please can you take a moment to tell us:
To clarify – when I present the findings of the survey to the AGM, this will be summarised and will not include specific comments. So no one will be able to be identified from the report back! Annual General Meeting The OCRC Annual General Meeting will be held in October, after the Learn to Row Camp – specific date and timing yet to be advised. Our current Committee has been elected to hold office for one year, although all are eligible to return if they wish to do so and have the support of the community at the AGM. Please start giving some thought to whether you would like to serve on the Committee, or whether there are others you would like to nominate. Next Executive Committee meeting The Committee will meet again at 3pm on Sunday 31 July. Please let me know if there is anything you would like the Committee to discuss. |
