Kia Ora everyone
It’s great to see a very busy LTR in action so welcome to all our LTR families as well. I hope you are all enjoying it so far. A big thank you to all our coaches involved with this and our experienced rowers helping out as well. Dates for your Diary
WRC Registration LTR-ers, Rowers & coxswains, please register on WRC. There is a new website and everyone has to register in order to get on the new database. This should be done in order to participate in LTR and the current training sessions. https://www.sporty.co.nz/wellingtonrowing/Register-1 WRC AGM Date: Tue 28th Oct Time: 7.15pm Location: Onslow College Student Centre New Treasurer wanted The Treasurer role will become vacant at the upcoming AGM. So if you have a little bit of financial background, please consider stepping into this role and helping our club progress the season operations. Contact Mike Woods for more info on what the Treasurer role entails. Ideally, it would be good to provide a transition period prior to the AGM date. [email protected] We are also looking for one more parent as a general committee member. The committee meets once per month throughout the year and provides the direction for OCRC and ensures the operational aspects of the rowing programme are carried out for the season. All other current members all willing to re-stand for election again. However, anyone is welcome to submit a nomination if you would like to stand for a committee role. If you want to find out about any of the committee roles then have a chat to the current committee members for further information. Currently elected committee members and their roles:
Every committee member has a specific role and various responsibilities they undertake during the season. The role covers the full calendar year. Additional committee members include a coach rep, school rep, rower rep and 2 life members. Further details on the AGM will be provided shortly. Book Fair Fundraising The annual one and only fundraiser – the OCRC Book Fair. Funds raised go towards coach and equipment expenses which means reduced OCRC fees for rowers/coxswains.
Keep collecting books. Keep collecting books from your house, neighbours, friends, family etc. The more we have, the better the fair will be! (We will not have the collection from the Ngaio book fair this time, so we need our own collection). Book drop - you can drop your books for sorting to Matts house before the book fair. Drop to 24 Omar Street, Khandallah. (there is no number, but see pic here, it is the blue door garage.) Leave books just in front of the garage or on the side path - only if it is not raining! Sponsorship If anyone is interested in sponsorship opportunities with our club, then please contact Stephanie. [email protected] Onslow College owns our own boat trailer that has 2 sides available for company or promotional signage. The boat trailer is parked prominently on the Wellington waterfront for the whole year and travels numerous times throughout the North Island between Wellington, Wanganui, Cambridge and also to Twizel in the South Island every other year. The 5 day away regattas in Cambridge generate thousands of attendees from all over the North Island and the trailer has high visibility to these attendees, including just as many adults as students as the regattas are school and club adult events with lots of adult support crews. It is basically a travelling bill board! Sponsorship could help the Onslow College students with equipment and capital purchases for the benefit of existing and future generations of Onslow rowers. Otherwise, suggestion of use of sponsorship funds or purchases is also welcomed. Season Regattas & Calendar on the Website The regatta schedule and season calendar is on the website - to start planning your family holidays around rowing! https://ocrowingclub.weebly.com/regattas--camps.html Season Fees Season fees are on the website. This is an indication of fees. https://ocrowingclub.weebly.com/costs.html WRC Scholarship If you would like to apply for the WRC scholarship for assistance in rowing season fees, then please review the attached forms and apply. WRC would like to encourage anyone who fits the criteria to apply. This is open to school rowers as well as club adults. Finally, enjoy these start of season training sessions and remember the weather will only get better! (warmer…) Nga mihi Stephanie www.ocrowingclub.weebly.com |
