Please do not share drink bottles. If you need a small bottle to take in the boat for a race, then use for e.g. 250ml bottle. Or if you are sharing a squeeze bottle to squirt water into your mouth, then ensure it has been washed thoroughly before sharing it. Sharing a drink bottle with someone who is sick is the fastest way to ensure your boat is out of the race! (Not wanting to scare-monger but there has also been a recent increase in NZ of meningococcal disease) Coach Levy and Equipment Levy Mike our Treasurer has emailed everyone to ask for coach and equipment levies. Both have been set again to $100 each, thanks to the Book Fair fundraising efforts to keep these costs as low as possible. These costs can be paid into the rowing account prior to the end of the season. If you need to discuss any rowing costs, then contact Mike Woods: [email protected] Grants Update OCRC are currently in the process of applying for funds for a replacement coach boat hull for Frodo and have been given BOT approval to apply for grants for a new Four. The Four will be purchased with the contribution of OCRC funds, fundraising funds and grant funding to hopefully have a new Four in time for next season. So once again, thank you to everyone for your amazing effort on the Book Fair and as such we have been able to put this money towards not only coach expenses and coach uniforms for this year, but also as a contribution for the future purchase of the Four:
Book Storage Required from Feb 2019 The remaining books from our Book Fair which are currently stored at Ullrich, need to be moved by the end of Feb 2019 as they are renovating their offices. So we need to find another storage location. If you have storage to offer or know of someone we can contact, then please let Matt Seymour know: [email protected] Otherwise everyone can keep an eye out for vacant or barely used buildings and try and find out who owns it. This is Deidre’s recipe for managing to get free storage in the past! A last resort is that we can split the books around to everyone to store some. New Boat Names New boat names have been chosen for the 3 Westlake doubles:
WRC Code of Conduct As well as our own school and OCRC code of conduct, WRC have just published their code of conduct for all club members which is applicable to school students, coaches, parents etc. A link to this document and other WRC club policy documents has been added to our Onslow College Rowing website. https://ocrowingclub.weebly.com/resources.html Oar Sport Magazine You should have recently received your copy of Rowing NZ Oar Sport. It is published and sent to all registered rowers about 3 times per year and is a good read. If you did not receive it, then check your WRC registration to make sure you have entered your postal address. Maadi Cup Big Screen! This might be one for you to organise Fin – mentioned in the recent Oar Sport magazine, you can submit a video introducing your school and athletes for showcasing on the regatta big screen between racing. All things rowing – bloopers, erg or water, bios, school anthems, early morning sessions etc. pg 35 of the Oar Sport Magazine. Ideas and organisation to Fin: [email protected] Uniforms Tees are coming – hopefully before KR1! Availability for camps and regattas If you are not available for any of the season camps and regattas, then please let your coach and squad manager know. See the list of camps and regattas on the website: https://ocrowingclub.weebly.com/regattas--camps.html Rowit - http://rowit.nz/ This is a great site for parents to keep in touch with the live results while the students are away at regattas. View the Day Sheet for race events, times and results. Rowers can also check their race entries here. New members and those not yet signed up, should ask to be added to the 'Onslow College Rowing' Facebook page. This is a good way of a keeping up with reminder notices for regatta trips and events, as well as photos and other things happening with the club. Finally, good luck for KR1 and have a great Christmas everyone! Nga mihi Stephanie www.ocrowingclub.weebly.com
