Kia Ora everyone
What a season! After the threat of nearly having a season without regattas, we managed to cram it all in, in the final 3 weeks with a couple more to Maadi. And wasn’t it all well worthwhile! An amazing opportunity to get the whole squad rowing on Lake Ruataniwha, loads of finals, medals and the Maadi gold! Awesome work OCRC. Dates for your Diary · 9th Apr, Boat Maintenance day · May/June – WRC prizegiving · June/July – OC open evening · Aug/Sept – LTR · Aug/Sept/Oct - Bookfair Boat maintenance The boat maintenance schedule was emailed the other day. Please check it to see your scheduled duty. If you can’t make your scheduled shift and can still help out on the day, then feel free to just turn up to a shift that suits you. Many hands make light work – thank you! End of season function We are going to postpone our senior rower farewell, usually held at our end of season function. Now is not the right time for extended bubble gatherings and some rowers are currently with covid or isolating. So we will do our senior rower farewell at the beginning of the new season, at the AGM. Extra OCRC coach fee Our coaches give their time for free for our club. Between training and regattas, this is hundreds of hours every season. We wouldn’t have a club without them. The agreement is, we cover their expenses. Between our lead coaches, and assistant coaches, this totals around $10k per year – split between an annual coaching fee of $100 per rower, and book-fair fundraising. Unfortunately, due to COVID lockdowns, it has not been possible to hold the book-fair this season. We can partly cover the shortfall from the additional $50pp maintenance / equipment fund we earlier billed to your student account that we tagged as a backup fund if there was no book fair, but we will still be short this season. The committee has decided that an extra $50 per rower is required to cover our coaches’ expenses and final end of season club running costs. This has been loaded to each student account for payment. Thank you. OCRC fees Please log into your student account to access the rowing charges. There are many outstanding fees yet to be paid. We recognise there have been issues with the new student management system but it is all up and running now, so all fees are waiting to be paid! Can you please settle all outstanding rowing fees for the 2021-22 season asap. Thank you! Access the student account system through the parent portal > login > click menu ‘Details’ > click option ‘Financial’ SISSC and Maadi wrap-up Well done to our Maadi crews on a very successful Maadi. All rowers made A/B finals with Allegra Lennard taking out the title for the GU16 1x. Well done Allegra. First girls gold Maadi medal for Onslow College. Maadi:

WSSRA Volunteer Wellington Secondary Schools Rowing Association is calling for a volunteer to help on the committee. They help organise and run the Wellington regattas, usually about a couple per season. If you would like to help, then please reply back and we’ll pass on your details.
