Kia Ora everyone
Well we made it – got through to Maadi! It was unfortunate that the season finale for the whole group was cut short, but despite the covid setbacks, I hope you feel that the season was fulfilling and goals were accomplished. Dates for your Diary · Tue 13th Apr – End of Season Celebration · Sat 17th Apr – Maintenance Day – All rowers · Sat 17th Apr – T1 School Holidays start · Fri 30th Apr – WRC Prize Giving End of Season Celebration Rowers and parents, come along to our end of season celebration:
Supper will be served! On behalf of OCRC, we wish our senior departing rowers all the best for any future rowing endeavours and other ventures beyond school later this year. Thank you from OCRC for your involvement and leadership you have shown over your years and in particular your senior year. (Daniel, Josh, Mason, Morgan, Ryan, Sean, Tarek, Zach, Rose S) Maintenance Day At the end of each season, all of the Onslow boats and an allocation of the WRC boats need to have an annual maintenance overhaul. All of the season rowers are expected to assist with this whether you are returning to rowing or not, including all of the departing seniors. It’s really just another excuse to hang out with your rowing mates again! More details to come, but please save this date:

Maadi Cup wrap-up Well done to our Maadi crews on a successful Maadi. It was a beautiful week weather-wise with lots of finals made:
Professional photography Unfortunately, there was no professional photography at Maadi from our contracted photographer or many other previously ‘official’ photographers due to some issue (not sure what!). However, you can check out this link to some photos that were taken to try and find any Onslow pics. https://www.rowingnz.kiwi/ClickThru?MessageKey=cnIwz0nB7WHZ5qQLmpG6wpHfMi88Sx/Jgt/lLqnshw0=&Email=22299&Link=51943 We will sort out soon, any credit due from the previously charged photography cost. 1841 Raffle Fundraiser Just a heads-up as most of you will know, that we run the 1841 fundraiser throughout the year including the winter off-season. So please be prepared to continue to do your allocated shift, even if you are not yet sure if you will return to rowing. (If you don’t, then it can be a nice end of rowing career ‘give-back’ – thank you!). When the new intake of novices come into the programme later in the year, we will add them into the roster as well. This is generally just a two or three times a year 30 min job and money raised goes towards a regatta bus. Single (1x) We were successful in a grant application a couple of months ago and have begun the process of purchasing our new Onslow single ready for the next season. Thanks to Mel Dingle for persevering with the grants process and securing this for our club. The rowers agreed name for the new boat is the ‘Ruamahanga’. Donation Thank-you’s Thank you to a number of people who have kindly donated items for our rowing club this season:
Season Thank-you’s Just pre-empting our end of season celebration, but to say a huge thank you to:
OCRC fees Just a gentle reminder that if you have any outstanding rowing fees, then please pay as soon as possible so that the end of season accounts can be finalised. If you need to clarify any charges, then contact Treasurer Greg Holden. Finally, have a well-earned rowing break and rowers, enjoy your winter sports. There will probably be some winter training kicking off around June/July for anyone who is interested in some land based fitness. And then the full season will start soon enough again, so hope to see you all back for more later in the year! Nga mihi Stephanie Clark OCRC President www.ocrowingclub.weebly.com
