Norton Cup
Thanks to everyone for contributing to another local regatta win for WRC! It was especially awesome to see our novice rowers out on the water for your first regatta and some great results for our experienced crews. Looks like we are set up to have a great season. Our next Regatta is another Wellington based one - the Queens Cup on November 11. Coaches will let you know what is involved and which crews will be entered Rowathon Great work everyone for the Rowathon today. Don’t forget to deposit the funds you raised into the rowing account – with reference your name and rowathon. Funds are split 50/50 between WRC and your rowing account. OCRC AGM Thanks to those people who came to the AGM, we got it done in record time and can confirm the new committee roles are as follows: President Olwyn Crutchley Secretary Keith Rogers Treasurer Raewyn Henderson Member Stephanie Clark Member Paul Smart The rest of the committee are: Life Members Terry McCarthy and Deidre Burke Lead Coach Jared Cumming School Rep Tina Manker Student Rep TBC We have not had a chance to hold an election for the student rep role but will do so over the next couple of weeks. Under general business at the AGM there was a good discussion on fundraising and a group will be forming over the next couple of weeks to follow up on this and get some activities underway. If you indicated you could help with that on the registration form you will be hearing from someone soon. WRC Subs The remaining WRC sub of $400 is due by the end of October. Raewyn sent a reminder out the other day and it is important we pay the club on time – so your attention to this is appreciated
Uniforms Uniforms have been ordered. Your squad manager will issue them when ready. If you have not paid, please do so asap. Thank you. Resources Have a look on our rowing website for links to different resources. https://ocrowingclub.weebly.com/resources.html This includes the OCRC Club Community Expectations which holds the code of conduct for rowers, coaches and support people. The club rules are also available here. Rowit - https://www.rowit.co.nz/ This is a great site for parents to keep in touch with the live results while the students are away at regattas. View the Day Sheet for race events, times and results. Rowers can also check their race entries here. New members and those not yet signed up, should ask to be added to the 'Onslow College Rowing' Facebook page. This is a good way of a keeping up with reminder notices for regatta trips and events, as well as photos and other things happening with the club. Book fair The Book fair cleared $6,200 which will go towards coach costs. This was another marathon effort from Deidre and the team and is a huge contribution to keeping our rowing programme running. Thanks Deidre and everyone who contributed! Deidre is looking for someone to hand over the lead tole on this to for next year – so if you are interested please seek Deidre out and discuss – I am sure she’ll have lots of knowledge to hand over. Grant We have received a $2000 grant from the Hutt Mana Community Trust. This will cover coach costs at camps and Regattas. I attended a function in Upper Hutt to receive the grant on behalf of the club earlier this month. Thanks to Donna Sherlock for getting the Grant application in on our behalf and to the trust for the grant.
