OCRC DAY SHEET – 16 April 2016
Congratulations to Olivia Clark and Constance Stirling – Bronze Medalists Maadi 2016!! Maadi 2016 Well done to all of our crews who competed in the Maadi Cup regatta at Twizel during the past week. In particular – congratulations to our Under 16 Girls’ Quad (Alice Loretto, Olivia Clark, Maggie Booker, Constance Stirling + Ella Greenslade), Under 16 Girls Double (Olivia Clarke and Constance Stirling) and Under 16 Girls’ Single (Olivia Clark); all of whom made A Finals – with the Under 16 Girls’ Double making it into the medals. Fantastic results to finish the season with! Executive Committee The Executive Committee will meet again on Monday 30 May. We will set up systems and processes for reviewing the 2015/ 16 season, and determining whether the OCRC Rules and/ or Committee structure have met our needs for the past 7 months. I will be in touch again in June to let you know how you can contribute to that process. If there are any other matters that you would like the Committee to discuss then please let me know. Wellington Rowing Club prize-giving The WRC will be holding their annual prize-giving on Saturday 7 May at 6:00pm in the upstairs Function Room. Please come along – I’ve a feeling some of our OCRC crews may be nominated for prizes and it would be great to support them, as well as our wider WRC colleagues. Thanks to our coaches Huge thanks to our fantastic coaches, who have been an absolute pleasure to work with this season, and who have all worked so hard with our rowers and given us so much of their time and energy:
Maintenance May May is our maintenance month, and all crews are expected to contribute to this. Coaches will be in contact with their squads directly to let them know what is expected of them during the month. Winter rowing season The winter rowing season starts in June, after Queens Birthday weekend. I will send out a note advising of specifics after our Exec Committee meeting on 30 May, but if you have any queries in the interim then please contact your coaches directly. Recruiting next season’s novices The Learn to Row programme begins in early August. We plan to run an active recruitment drive across Onslow College and its feeder-intermediate schools during the winter months. The Executive Committee will be setting up a sub-committee to manage this at our 30 May meeting. If you have any ideas or would like to be a part of this please let me know. This will be the last Day Sheet sent for the 2015/16 summer rowing season. I will be in touch on an as-needs-be basis throughout the winter, to advise you of details around the review of our club rules and structure; winter training; the beginning of the LTR programme and details of the LTR camp; and our next AGM which will be held in October this year – early in Term 4. Wishing you all a wonderful winter, with many slow starts and late mornings, snuggled up in bed till long past 5:00am!!!!!!!!!!!! Annie Hindle – OCRC President 16 April 2016
