Kia Ora Everyone
We are getting close to the new season beginning – so it’s time to start thinking about rowing again. Getting a great bunch of new novices on board is an essential part of this! We are looking for support in this process from existing rowers and families – so read the information below and have a think about what you can do to help. Learn to Row Recruitment LTR recruitment is currently taking place, so spread the word about joining Onslow College rowing. There is a free 2-week trial for students to give rowing a go, it is open to all year groups and as you know it is a fantastic environment for teamwork, friendships, fitness and learning skills for success both on and off the water. The Year 9's and 10's have had an intro to rowing and erg skills in their PE classes over the past week and they have been shown the recruitment video in their assemblies last term. There are notices in the Bulletin and the Notices. Let’s make rowing visible around school - wear your rowing hoodies around school. The more newcomers we get, the better it is for everyone. LTR Student & Parent Meeting: If you know any potential students who are interested in rowing, then encourage them to come with their parent(s) to the LTR information meeting.

However, if you are not returning to rowing, then let your coach know or email Stephanie and we'll start to get our contacts list corrected: [email protected] If you are unsure about whether to do another season, then have a chat to your coach or Tina, Terry or Deidre to work through any concerns you might have. Sports Photos They will be taken next Tuesday. Rowing is last at 2.20pm. Can rowers please bring their unitard for the photo. I think some rowers don’t currently have one so please bring black shorts and we will try to source a singlet. As a back-up also bring your black polo in case we can’t get a uniform look in the uni/singlets. Please make the effort to attend the photo session and we'll try and get all coaches there for squad photos and we're also taking one photo with everyone. AGM Thursday 26th October The AGM will be held on Thursday 26 October at 7:30pm at the Student Centre. There will be at least one vacancy on the committee to fill and we’d love to hear from you if you are interested in this role. Book Fair The date for the bookfair is likely to get pushed out – Deidre will let everyone know the new date once that is confirmed. Meanwhile if you want to get involved please drop Deidre an email: [email protected] Season Feedback Survey We only received 9 responses to the feedback survey (6 from rowers) – so not enough to really give a cross-section of views. The Executive Committee would still like your feedback on the season and your ideas to improve the coming season. If you would still like to respond I will leave the survey open for a couple of weeks and collate the results for the next day sheet: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YGJH26T Session on Rowing Nutrition 12 August WRC 10am This coming Saturday (12th) there is an opportunity for rowers and parents to attend a Rowing nutrition talk from an expert from rowing NZ.
