CAMP THANK YOU
Summer camp was a great success. The rowers all returned home tired (the way it's meant to be!). So a big thank you to the coaches for all you hard work in extracting top performances from the rowers. A huge thank you to the parent help - Annie for organising another camp, Keith, Andrew and Babette, David and Sarah, Fiona and Damian. Fiona is a chef and the summer camp food was fabulous, so an extra thanks for your work in the kitchen. And of course a big thanks to our rowers who put everything into their training sessions and made an enjoyable camp for everyone. KR2 & NICC THIS WEEK Departure for KR2 & NICC is this Thursday 26th Jan. Please be at School by 7am in your travel uniform to load the bus for a 7.30am departure. Remember to bring both of your racing uniforms, your Onslow unitard and your WRC singlet and black bike shorts etc. Girls to bring home baking. Thank you! WANGANUI CLUB CHAMPS REGATTA This is the weekend after we get back from KR2/NICC. We head up to Wanganui after school on Fri 3rd Feb. Regatta is Sat 4th Feb and a training day Sun 5th Feb. Own transport to and from Wanganui, so please arrange carpooling in your squad if required. FUTURE CAMP DATES Future camp dates are available on the home page of the OCRC website: http://ocrowingclub.weebly.com/
PARENT HELP FOR NISSC We need one more parent for parent help at NISSC. If you would like to help, then contact Stephanie. NISSC is 9th - 12th March. NEW DOUBLE We took possession of our new Double at summer camp where it got well used and much appreciated by the rowers. Voting on the name of the new boat has been suggested as 'Ngatoto'. We also have our new oars. All thanks to the recent grants we received from NZCT, Hutt Mana Charitable Trust and Pub Charity. FINAL FUNDRAISER? If anyone would like to participate in one more fundraiser for the benefit of rowers own funds, then please let your squad manager know. If there is enough interest from the club, we will support one more fundraiser. However, we will need someone to organise it, so please let Stephanie know if this could be you. After the Wanganui Champs regatta, there is the major North Island school regatta NISSC, one more local Wellington regatta (weather permitting) and potentially Maadi for rowers who meet the Maadi selection criteria. TOP 5 SPORTING MOMENTS OF 2016 The Independent Herald recently published a review of all things 2016 for the Northern and Western suburbs. Taking 2 of the top 5 sporting moments were Onslow College students. Olivia and Constance for their Double bronze Maadi medal win and Tamara Anderson for her tennis. Well done Onslow College! https://issuu.com/the.star/docs/217011ih?mode=embed&layout=http%3A%2F%2Fskin.issuu.com%2Fv%2Flight%2Flayout.xml&backgroundColor=010101
